Avantika Bawa is an artist, curator, and academic. She has an MFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1998) and a BFA in the same from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India (1995). She was a participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, ME (2008) the Vermont Studio Center, VT (2009), Milepost 5, Portland, OR (2010) and Jentel Artist Residency Program, WY (2010). Avantika was also part of the exhibition Ruptures in Arrival: Art in the Wake of the Komagata Maru at the Surrey Art Gallery.
