“I position my practice within the context of a generation that speaks after the fact. Marianne Hirsch describes this process as “postmemory,” a term used to describe the generation that has no direct experience to the historical event/trauma itself. “Postmemory” describes the relationship that the “generation after” bears to the personal, collective, and cultural trauma of those who came before. They “remember” only by means of the stories, images, behaviours, and silences among which they grew up.”
